Frequently Asked Questions

Workshop FAQs

How do I register for a workshop?

Use the contact form or the registration button provided on the workshop page to send us a message indicating which workshop you wish to register for (use the drop-down menu on the form to see the options). We typically respond within 24 hours to confirm receiving your message and to ask necessary questions from you before we send an invoice to secure your registration. Our invoices are sent via PayPal so that you have the choice of how you wish to pay in a secure way.

What is included in the workshop fee?

Each workshop’s description will detail what is included, but in general it will include: the instruction, translation between English and Italian when necessary, the use of all tools or equipment available in the studio necessary for the workshop, snacks and drinks during the workshop, and meals as specified for full or multi-day events. Materials or supply kits required by each teacher will be indicated and may incur an additional fee if the student doesn’t bring their own.

What skill level is required to attend a workshop?

Our workshops cater to various levels from beginners to more advanced. The workshop description will outline what level you should be. If it’s still unclear, send us a message letting us know your experience level and we’ll be happy to guide you.

What should I bring to the workshop?

We’ll provide all the tools and equipment necessary. However, if you have specific tools or materials you'd like to use, feel free to bring them. A sketchbook for note-taking and designing is always a good idea if you like to stay organized (we’ll provide blank paper otherwise). Comfortable clothing suitable for a studio environment is recommended. Also, a swimsuit if you want to get in the pool during summer workshops.

I’m from the USA, can I pay in USD?

Yes, I can convert the listed Euro price to USD when preparing your invoice using the current exchange rate, thus avoiding any additional banking conversion fees.

If I am arriving by car for a workshop, is there parking available?

Yes! We are located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the countryside about 15 minutes away from the city of Salerno. Street parking is easily available and is free.

Is accommodation included in the workshop?

No, we do not have rooms available. We recommend the nearby agriturismo, Tenuta d’Amore. It is located a few minutes away on foot.

How many participants will be in the workshop?

Our workshops are intentionally kept small due to space constraints, with a maximum of 6 participants. This also ensures personalized instruction and ample time for each student.

Can I bring a guest to the workshop?

Non-participating guests are welcome to join for certain activities such as the welcome dinner or final event, for an additional fee. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a guest.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Please inform us of any dietary restrictions when you register, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Included meals served will be typical Italian dishes.

Do you have a question we haven’t answered yet?

Contact us with your question and we’ll highlight it here if it can benefit others.

About the venue:

  • The workshop studio is located in a private home.

  • There are 2 cats that reside in the home and they are allowed to go outside. Many of our neighbors have dogs.

  • There are stairs in the home to reach the workshop area. There is no elevator.

  • The workshop studio is a covered terrace (open air) with sliding windows that close during inclement weather. During nice weather the windows will remain open for ventilation. An additional fan will be placed in the workshop when necessary during hot weather or a space heater during colder weather. Dress accordingly.

  • There is a bathroom located just outside the entrance to the terrace that guests can use.

  • Smoking is not permitted in the home or the studio, but you can step outside in the garden/yard if you need to. There is a garden in the front and back of the home.

  • We have a small above-ground pool. It will be available during the summer months for guests to enjoy during the workshop if they would like to take a break during the workshop sessions.

  • The home is located in the country. On occasion you may witness farm animals passing by.

  • San Mango Piemonte is a very small and quiet Italian town in the province of Salerno. It’s not really known for anything special other than farming. Our location is on the outskirts of this farming community, so there aren’t any shops nearby, but you can walk to the town center or the next town in 30-60 minutes for some local shops, bars, or a gelateria. Traveling by car you can reach the historic city of Salerno in 15-20 minutes which has plenty of shopping, restaurants, and city life for evenings out.

  • Other notable nearby destinations for travelers includes the breathtaking Amalfi Coast (Vietri sul Mare, Maiori, Amalfi, Ravello, Positano and more), the island of Capri (you can take a ferry from Salerno), the ancient ruins of Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius volcano, the Greek temples of Paestum and the nearby seaside town of Agropoli, and the always exciting city of Naples.

  • If you enjoy sunbathing on the beach, you can visit beach lidos all along the coast. The Amalfi Coast towns usually have smaller, rocky beaches that can get quite crowded in the summer. If you prefer a more open sandy beach, then head south to the beaches of the Cilento Coast (Paestum is our favorite that’s nearby).
